It is a common fact that people are naturally bad at selecting tedious pin codes. The most common pin code is genuinely guessable at ‘1234’ If you think that’s bad take a look at the 15 most common pins.

Yet people still think they have a ‘tough enough’ pin code, despite it being super obvious. The percentage of pin hacks have increased by 12% leaving it at 54% in 2018. Let’s hope we can reduce this percentage by virtue of 2019.

How to come up with a good pin code? Avoid all the pin numbers above! Pick something slightly more mysterious. For example, a country you visited including the year or date, or a country who won world cup or your date of birth backwards. Or even the last four digits of your work/mobile number it could be any number.  Choosing the most obvious pin are problematic for bank cards, phones, computers and even pin locks. It is common knowledge now that people tend to use memorable dates backwards, as this reduces the obvious prediction.
